If you care about the “how” and the process behind what you purchase, especially when it comes to natural products, this is the sponge you want. These Pohnpei Mineral Bath Sponges start with sustainably harvested tops of wild sponges, and then they are hand-grown to larger sizes in hanging sponges gardens in the sea. Micronesian farmers are paid a living wage to cultivate these beautiful bath and body sponges. These sponges are creating sustainable income for the local community they are grown in.
These are not treated with any harsh cleaning agents and may contain small pieces of ocean within them. Sea sponges contain naturally occurring minerals like iodine, calcium, magnesium, sodium, iron, zinc, and potassium. Sponges measure 4-5" and as a natural product, they may look a little different that the one in the photo. Imported by the Nevada City, California zero waste witches of Holy Sponge.
CARE: Every so often, soak your sponge in warm water and a tbs of baking soda. Rinse and allow to dry/live in an open and clean environment.
RIP at end of life these sponges can be composted.
